A running journal/blog of the NFL Combine. Right now I’m determining how to get this thing rolling.

As many of you probably already know, tomorrow marks the start of the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine, with offensive linemen, tight ends, and specialists working out. Since I have NFL Network, I’m going to try and update the website throughout the day tomorrow with 40-times along with other important statistical information and news, maybe in the form of a live running journal/diary/blog. Some news on the night before: Read the rest of this entry »
The second round of our latest mock draft, version 3.05. We’ve also edited the first round to include the Giants getting the 32nd pick. The first round could be found here, while the entire mock could be found on the mock draft page.

33. Miami Dolphins — Gosder Cherilus, Boston College (OT)
Parcells loves having big offensive linemen, and Cherilus definitely fills that mold. Upgrading the offensive line could give John Beck a boost, and help the Dolphins offense. Vernon Carey and L.J. Shelton are both adequate players at the tackles, and both could be upgraded. In all honesty, I don’t see Cherilus as a second round talent. I’m always a fan of these massive looking offensive tackles, that being said Cherilus could definitely play tackle for a while in the league.
34. St. Louis Rams — Chris Williams, Vanderbilt (OT)
Offensively the Rams struggled with Orlando Pace out. Pace says he won’t retire, but you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank at 32-years old. Additionally, while being skilled at the tackle spot, Alex Barron has had his troubles with penalties since entering the league. Williams is a terrific pass blocking, and with the right amount of coaching could be a good run blocker as well.
35. Oakland Raiders — Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma (WR)
Warren Sapp retiring left a big hole in the middle of the Raiders defensive line. However, Kelly’s value here in the second round is astronomical. Somebody like Pat Sims would be the pick here if it wasn’t for Kelly falling through the cracks in the second round. The Raiders should be more than happy to be surrounding JaMarcus Russell with such play-makers as Kelly and Darren McFadden. Kelly is the most balanced wide receiver in this draft class, as he does not one thing great, but everything he does is average or at a little above average, which shouldn’t be regarded as a negative.
36. Kansas City Chiefs — Reggie Smith, Oklahoma (CB/S)
Similar to what the Jets did back in 2006, the Chiefs should direct most of their attention toward rebuilding the offensive line. Brodie Croyle seems to have another shot at the quarterback position, and with a new look line with Jake Long and Brendan Albert anything would be possible. Albert will be able to have success as a
37. New York Jets — Brendan Albert, Virginia (OG/OT)
The Jets did a lot to improve their offensive line back in 2006, but adding another piece should be a priority in the first three rounds for them this year. Albert would could be placed at right tackle or at guard, will provide the Jets with three dominate key young pieces to build their line around in Albert, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, and Nick Mangold. This could very well be the ideal scenario for Jets fans entering the second round.
A scouting report for our third ranked prospect, and projected number one overall pick, Glenn Dorsey; who appears to be a lock at this point to be drafted in the top three. This is our sixth scouting report of the year so far. Read the rest of this entry »
Below are position-by-position rankings for the draft. A bit news about the site, we’ve added a poll to the sidebar which we will be updating frequently. Take some time to comment on the new top 50 released as well as the latest mock draft. There should be a couple scouting reports released between now and Tuesday. Right now there’s a decision whether or not to put out another mock draft before the combine on February 23.
